Abdominoplasty
Etymology:
Often suggested to be from L. abdere: “to hide, conceal” + Gr. -plastós: “molded, formed” (referring to plastic surgery)
Definition:
The surgical removal of excess flesh from the abdomen (the cavity of the belly which hides the visceral organs), usually for cosmetic reasons. It is also known colloquially as a "tummy tuck".
