Amnesia
Etymology:
Gr.amnēsía: “forgetfulness”
Definition:
Forgetfulness that causes an individual to forget periods of their life.
Retrograde amnesia: forgetting past experiences, meaning before a central nervous system injury; can be flat where all memories prior are forgotten, or graded where only some memories are forgotten.
Anterograde amnesia: the inability to form new memories, especially after a central nervous system injury.
