Etymology:

Gr. anatomḗ: “dissection”, from Gr. aná: “up” + Gr. témnō: “I cut, incise” (literally “cut up”)

Definition:

The branch of biology concerned with the study of the structure of organisms and their parts (in other words, you are cutting up a whole into its separate parts).
