Balanitis
Etymology:
L. balanus: “glans” (referring to glans penis), from Gr. bálanos: "acorn", so named for its shape resemblance + Gr. -itis: "disease characterized by inflammation", see "-itis" entry for full etymology
Definition:
Inflammation of the glans penis. When the foreskin is also affected, the proper term is balanoposthitis.
