Basilic vein
Etymology:
From the Arabic al-basilik: “inner”, so named because of its location in the arm where "inner" is meaning more anatomically medial relative to other veins in the arm (e.g., cephalic vein, brachial vein)
Definition:
A large superficial vein in the inner/medial aspect of the upper limb that helps drain parts of hand and forearm.
