Bronchitis
Etymology:
Gr. brónkhos: “trachea, windpipe” + Gr. -itis: "disease characterized by inflammation", see "-itis" entry for full etymology
Definition:
An inflammation of the bronchi (branching off the trachea) of the lungs, that causes the cilia of the bronchial epithelial cells to stop functioning.
