Conus medullaris
Etymology:
Definition:
L. conus medullaris: "medullary cone" + L. medulla: “pith (the soft, spongy substance in the center of the stems of many plants and trees), marrow”, perhaps from L. medius: “middle”
The tapered or "cone-like" terminal end of the spinal cord occuring near L1-L2 vertebral layers in the middle/central canal of the spine.
