Deltoid
Etymology:
Definition:
L. delta: "triangle" + -oid, from Gr. eîdos: “form, likeness”
The deltoid is the muscle forming the rounded contour of the human shoulder. When dissected and laid flat it is triangle shaped; specifically, it is called so because it is in the shape of the Greek capital letter delta (Δ).
