Embolism
Etymology:
Gr. embállō: “to insert, throw in”
Definition:
An obstruction or occlusion of an blood vessel by an embolus, that is by a blood clot, air bubble, or other matter that has been transported by the blood stream (with the imagery being that some object was "thrown into" the blood vessel).
