This term is an eponym. It is named after two people.

Definition:

Epstein-Barr virus, also known as infectious mononucleosis (mono), is a common virus transmitted through saliva. Named after British virologist Michael Epstein and Irish virologist Y. M. Barr in 1964. The discovery came via cultured tumor cells derived from a biopsy of a Burkitt's lymphoma.
