Eustachian tube

Etymology:

This term is an eponym. It refers to a man named Bartolomeo Eustachio, an Italian physician who first discovered the passage from the ears to the throat.

Definition:

The eustachian tubes connect the middle ear to the throat. They are important for regulating air pressure in the middle ear and draining fluid. More intuitive terms could include "auditory tube" or, more specifically, "pharyngotympanic tube".
