Menorrhagia
Etymology:
Gr. meís, mēnós: “month” + -ragía: "to break, burst"
Definition:
Heavy menstrual bleeding, also known as menorrhagia, is a menstrual period (physiologically occuring once per month in humans after puberty and before menopause) with excessively heavy flow (as if the flow—referring to the shedding of the uterine lining—has abnormally "broke through"). It is a type of abnormal uterine bleeding.
