Gr. metá: "afterwards, thereafter" + Gr. tarsós: “the flat of the foot; the edge of the eyelid and its lashes”
Definition:
Referring to the five metatarsal bones located in the flat of the foot; the bones coming "after" the tarsal bones located in the foot.
