Etymology:
L. modiolus: “wheel's hub”
Definition:
Central connection point at the corner of the mouth where multiple facial muscles converge and is a small fibromuscular structure at the corner of the mouth where fibers from multiple facial muscles converge (much like spokes on the hub of a wheel), and helps coordinate the action of these muscles.
