Ossification
Etymology:
L. ossis: “of bones”, from L. os: "bone"
Definition:
1) The normal process by which bone is formed. Specifically, the process of laying down new bone material by cells named osteoblasts.
2) The calcification of tissue into a bonelike mass; the mass so formed.
