Palatine bone
Etymology:
L. palātum: “roof of the mouth, palate”
Definition:
Either of a pair of bones that are situated behind and between the maxillae, in humans are of extremely irregular form, and make up parts of the eye socket, the nasal cavity, and the hard palate (that, which makes up the "roof" of the mouth).
