Etymology:
Gr. pan or pâs: “all, every” + Gr. cyto or kútos: “container, receptacle” + Gr. penía: “poverty, lack”
Definition:
A reduction in the numbers of red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets in the blood; a reduction in numbers or lack of "all" cells (resembling small receptacles) in the blood.
